Pathfinder Short Session Story Prompt #2
Pathfinder Short Session Story Prompt #1:
These will improve as I get a better grasp of the lore. I’ve only recently gotten into it. Mostly into Warhammer stuff myself.
Setting: Sarusan
Plot: Protect an Anadi Sage that wishes to travel within the catacombs in a city long forgotten by time itself. It’s rumored that a Zyss Serpent-Folk has been conducting strange arcane experiments here.
The Anadi Sage wants confirmation of this as well as any documents written by the Zyss.
You get in, and get out without being caught by the Zyss, and his guards. The beasts under mind control are free game.
You can’t invade an abandoned space
Reacting to review comments on Pathfinder 2nd edition
“It’s politically correct”
“Woke BS”
Plenty of people commenting this on there. But the truth is the leftist leanings in entertainment are your fault. At least to some extent anyway.
You abandoned comics, and games as you grew up. When you decided to come back to your old favorites. You found out that Woke folks took it over.
How many of you took the time to develop creative writing skills? Someone with those talents wouldn’t care. They’d either rework the lore a bit for a homebrew or make their own ttrpg. But that takes time, and effort. Something you didn’t want to do.
You could’ve also supported alternatives or looked for like-minded communities.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m sympathetic to your outrage. I wrote a response to Jacobin about it.
But you can’t complain about it, and expect change. Will you support lesser known projects, and creators? Will you make your own? I’ll help you find what your looking for.
Just follow my blog, and buy my e-book when I finally publish it. As a way of thanking me in the future. I discuss crypto, independent wrestling, lucha, and politics here.
Comics:
These will most likely be more your style. Fits with your preferences. I’m definitely sure of that.
TTRPG:
Lamentations of the flame princess
This blog for you truly old school DND RW bros
All of these would most likely appeal to people with moderate or right wing ideals. It’s out there for you to enjoy. You just choose not to get involved with it.
I plan on writing my own short story & campaign setting that could fit into any game. Will I try to appeal to as many people as possible? Yes. Am I going to pander to score social points? No.
The simple truth is culture, and entertainment is the way it is. Because there wasn’t any resistance to change. But change isn’t necessarily bad either. It depends.
Jacobin is right about DND
Capitalism did destroy the tabletop hobby in an effort to bring more people in. Wizards of the coast alienated their core fanbase in order to attract casual players. The kind of people that once mocked, and bullied tabletop hobbyists.
The Pathfinder franchise owes it’s entire existence to this change in direction. The OSR ttrpg community wouldn’t exist without it either. But this was bound to happen anyway.
Once a form of entertainment gets too popular. It begins to dilute, and change form. The presence of profit only accelerates this. Some say that the core fans should just get over it, and adapt.
But for many people these hobbies were the only source of community they had. Because they were pushed out of everything else or simply didn’t fit in anywhere else. No one wants to acknowledge a simple truth.
Gaming got gentrified by normal, and popular people. The last refuge of the nerd was stripped away. Capitalism pushes for cultural homogenization.
There is no diversity of culture in a capitalist society. The nerd has every right to be upset that their community is gone. Socialism also enforces it’s own cultural homogeneity. Depending on what form it takes. Some brands of socialism are better than others.
Cultural appropriation, gentrification, and the stripping away of uniqueness is an integral part of liberal capitalism. You can’t retain cultural uniqueness in a universalist for profit system.
Decisions have to be made.
A vision for an American Empire
Traveling through the warp of political philosophy can always lead to interesting things. The honorable folks of the Imperium should always tred carefully. The disciples of Khorne, Slaanesh, Nurgle, and Tzeentch are recruiting.
I discovered this article from a civic authoritarian project. Here’s my take on the author’s writings. America’s time as a republic is definitely over. The future is imperial in nature.
He accurately maps out the progression from Republic to Empire. I liked the suggestion of looking to the federalists for inspiration. Hamilton, and Adams to be precise. Here’s some outlandish suggestions for how to craft the Empire of America.
The Holy Roman Empire is an excellent example for how it could operate. Towns, cities, counties, and states are now governed by influential families. Electors would be able to vote for the Emperor Empress of America. Countries could voluntarily join the Empire of America.
The Empire of America in it’s early stages will have to expand without firing a shot. This can easily be done by reforming the foreign aid program, and remittance policies. Giving up sovereignty to the Empire of America becomes a prerequisite for aid. Countries like Moldova, Haiti, and Thailand could apply for statehood. Leading to enjoying all the benefits that come with it. Better infrastructure, quality of life, and more. The influential families of these new imperial states would be able to represent them in the capital.
Atheism & anti-theism must be considered taboo within the Empire. It only breeds defeatism, and unmitigated hedonism. The Empire will have to embrace religious belief. Personally I don’t think a state religion is necessary or the correct move. But favoring one, and accepting the rest is fine. V2 Catholicism lacks potency, and the reputation of the institution is damaged beyond repair. The various sects of Protestantism lack good aesthetics, and have similar issues.
Mormonism is strong but it’s so outlandish that it got bullied into Utah. Islam has many qualities that makes it suitable for Imperium. However it’s very alien to the masses of the first 50 states. We’d have to settle on a sect, and make it palatable to the public. There’s also Baha’i, Wicca, and Thelema.
The Empire of America could also create a syncretic polytheism that pulls from many pantheons. Celtic, Norse, Aztec, Greek, and so on. Embracing polytheism is certainly an option.
Reigniting the flame of Monolatry by going with Atenism or Yahwism is definitely an option. You could also favor Mithraism or Julian’s Hellenism.
Circling back to the model for the Empire of America. The Tau Empire from Warhammer 40k is another solid example. They value peace, and diplomacy. War is typically a last resort for them. They’re a very utilitarian society that believes in the greater good. Everyone must aspire to great heights to advance society as a whole. People have compared them to the USSR. Which isn’t entirely wrong but not 100% right either.
The Tau Empire does allow other species to voluntarily join the Empire. However the Tau do have a caste system. Which isn’t very hammer & sickle of them. The Ethereals are the top caste of society. Pheromones, special abilities, and indoctrination. One or a combination of those could explain their power.
The term “National Progressive” is perfect because it’s rooted in the past, and looks to the future. Leaders like McKinley, the Roosevelts, and Alexander Hamilton should be seen as it’s forefathers. We must construct a strong cultural, and political message around this new ideology. This progressive ideology won’t be like the one we know now.
It’ll be an aristocratic, and royalist progressivism. That believes in the beauty of the American dream, and a galactic empire based on that. A national progressivism that intends to continue manifesting the destiny of America. From continent to continent, and solar system to solar system. Long Live the Empire of America!
Many of the policies I suggested to the CPUSA I’d recommend here. Like Tower Towns, state funded crypto mining, and sci-fi influencing the development of technology.
21 American Presidents have had more than one term, and FDR had 3 terms. That means for almost a century the American public preferred to keep the same leader. Only a fraction of the population actually bothers to vote. Which should indicate to anyone that we don’t actually want democracy.
We’re just convinced that we do by our peers. But in times of need the human species always selects a benevolent despot. The United States has been in a increased state of turmoil since 2000. The Republic is dying. The government has become increasingly more involved in our lives.
There’s very little resistance.
Only tantrums from the so-called patriots.
Social rightism & economic leftism is a powerful combination. Add a little environmentalism, and Promethean futurism throw in as well for an exquisite recipe for dominance. The current governing ideology is bland, and has no flavor.
Add a little spice
Learning about Battletech
Stalker mech, and the beginning. My current understanding of Battletech comes from here. Given the recent Games Workshop drama, and 40k players saying they’re interested. I figured that I should have a look too.
Although as someone whose sole interest in anything Warhammer is the story. I don’t have as much skin in the game as a guy with 1000s invested. If I were to play any GW game it’d probably be Necromunda. I think wargaming minis are exceptionally overpriced.
The beginning: Technological breakthrough brings new opportunities, and more problems. A story as old as time itself I like it. The Deimos project was completed in 2108 by the Terran Alliance. Humanity began to expand, and the settlements on other planets weren’t very keen on listening to Earth.
Separatism was building in the early 22nd century. After decades of war the Terran Alliance decided to let plenty of worlds go. Some prosper, and others don’t. Sounds like European colonial imperialism or the decline of any empire really.
The great weakness within the Terran Alliance led to a military coup in 2314. The Terran hegemony took it’s place. The hegemony eventually became a neutral power as five factions fought. But this became quite profitable especially with the birth of the Battlemech.
The Stalker: A very interestingly shaped mech looks slightly inappropriate. It’s not a fancy machine that’s for sure. It was designed in 2594 by triad technologies. Designed for strong defense, and firepower it’s quite slow. But it’s still good in urban areas. The STK-3F has 2 LRM-10, 6 lasers, and 2 SRM-6s .
It seems like a very simple, and useful design kind of like the AK-47. Very nice.
I’ll probably write about it a bit more as I look into it more. Kind of need to make posts about AEW & CMLL too. Probably some Warhammer or SoundCloud reviews too.
Raspork’s human BBQ show
On tonight’s episode of Raspork’s human BBQ show. We’ll be making Pulled Human! The meat for today’s delicious meal comes from the Green Tea Tavern. I’ve got a special connection with a half-orc lady in their kitchen!
The pot has been lined with sliced onions. I’ll be rubbing the human butt with seasoning, and placing it in the pot. Human butt is a very cheap, and easy cut of meat to transport. Plenty of Half-orcs, and goblins in the cooking field will be able to sell it to you!
The last, and most important part is pouring two bottles of honey mead into the pot. After four or five hours the meat should fall right off the hip. After that you can place the sweet meat between two buns, and sit down to enjoy the sweet taste of humanity.
A truly delicious species that we were blessed with encountering. But remember folks! Never let your human friends find out about this delicacy. Otherwise they’ll have to go missing too.
Thanks for watching!
Warhammer & Our World
I’ll be fixing this later because I’m a little sleep deprived currently. It’s like six something in the morning.
The Chaos Gods of the Warhammer franchise are Games Workshop’s take on something very real. Perhaps these characters are brand new entities introducing themselves.
They could also be existing entities presenting themselves under a new name. But the more boring & mundane answer is that they’re simply inspired by the real deal. Khorne, Slaanesh, Tzeentch, Nurgle, and Malal.
Tzeentch can be found wherever there is political, and social intrigue. Schemes as far as the eye can see.
Khorne can be found on the bloodstained battlefields, and fighting cages of the world. Go out, and fight until you’re the best. Until you’re strong enough to challenge the true number one. Something men have tried to do since the dawn of time. But there’s always another challenge, and it’s so lonely at the top.
Slaanesh can be found online in your google searches on lonely Friday nights. When a man sleeps with his secretary, the whispers of temptation are present. When a woman insists on being tied up, and gagged. Slaanesh smiles devilishly.
Wherever you can find instability & pure chaos in it’s truest form. Malal was there. Malal’s destructive nature knows no bounds. A collapsing tower destroying families or a deranged psycho in a public place. All of it serves a purpose for Malal.
Corruption & decay are Nurgle’s doing. Every new disease is his baby, and every rotting corpse is welcomed into his bosom. He delights in despair, and the collapse of life.
Entities like this have been present in our world since the beginning. From Mesopotamia to the Modern West. All religions, and cultures.
Chaos is neither good nor bad. It simply is what it is, and it’s necessary for life. Be crushed by it or become greater because of it.
Vampire the Masquerade solo RPG?
Has anyone ever made their own homebrew dungeon crawl with this game? It seems like it’d be interesting. You could be a Nosferatu sneaking in & out of a hospital. A Gangrel trying to break out of prison.
So many options.
